Ouray County TV Commercial

View the Ouray Chamber Resort Associations TV Commercial that airs on CNN and Spike and Lifetime in the New Mexico DMA comcast cable stations. The first 10 seconds are not shown on TV. This commercial emphasizes a winter outdoor playground. We are currently working on a 2nd winter time commercial that emphasizes winter relaxation, spas, wildlife viewing and we are going to play that commercial on Lifetime in February.

Ouray Ice Festival Volunteer Party

The Ouray Ice Festival hosts a volunteer party every year after the Fest to say "thanks for all you're hard work". This year's party was hosted at the Outlaw. There are about 200+ volunteers that make the Festival happen every year and without them it simply wouldn't exist. Not all were able to attend last night but from me and the Staff at the Ice Park we truly do thank them for all they did!!

Below is a picture of Chris Folsom. Chris runs the Kid's Climbing College with help from wife Deb and several others (I fear listing them as I'm certain I'll forget someone!). Deb snapped this photo while Chris was doing his best Ewok Impression. Those camera phones are dangerous!!!

Red Mountain Rescue

RINK Fundraiser a great success

Thanks to local Will Clapsadl for organizing the group called RINK (Rink Ice Needs Kids). He is masterminding the ice building and maintenance. On Sunday, RINK sponsored a great event to raise some money to create a warming hut and help put in the necessary improvements to the facility. Here are a few pictures of the event. All told, the parking lot was overflowing for most of the afternoon, most all the food was eaten and the drinks warmed them all.

The premier ice climbing event in the U.S. is upon us. the 14th Annual Ouray Ice Festival begins Thursday Evening, January 8th.

This premiere ice climbing event is known as the best in world and brings people, both climbers and non-climbers, from around the world to Ouray, CO. Co-sponsoring the event with the Ouray Ice Park is Asolo Boots and Rock and Ice Magazine. The Ouray Ice Festival offers clinics hosted by elite athletes with free use of the latest gear. There are several daily events including Ice Axe Throwing and Screaming Barfies Competition, evening presentations, Kid’s Climbing College and mingling with the world’s best climbers.
